Connect with Hawaiian history through kapa-inspired printing — a free, family-friendly art activity in the park!
About this Event

Drop in for a free, hands-on workshop with Native Hawaiian artist Malia Peoples! Learn about kapa, the traditional barkcloth of Hawaii , and explore its cultural significance through demonstrations, traditional tools, and stories of Hawaiian history.

Participants will design their own ‘ohe kapala-inspired stamps using simple materials, then create a printed piece of art or a tote bag to take home (tote is limited to the first 10 attendees). No carving or art experience required, all ages and skill levels are welcome. All supplies are included.

Bring a friend, pack a snack, and spend the day immersed in Hawaiian culture and creativity. Find us at the pop-up tent on the big lawn!
