Discover Color Theory

Jane Wood, our instructor, is an emerging watercolor artist. Her work explores various concepts through watercolor, mixed media, and pastel. Jane gets inspiration from human experience and spiritual connection to invite the viewer to connect to her work.

Objectives:

• Define the basics of color theory

• Experiment with mixing color

• Demonstrate concepts by creating a small artwork

Description:

Have you ever wondered what color theory is? Do you know how to mix colors? Did you know there is a logical structure for selecting colors?

We’ll talk about using the color wheel, what color harmonies such as monochromatic, analogous, complementary and triadic color relationships are. Tints, tones and shades as well as temperature being warm versus cool will be discussed as well. The medium we'll use will be watercolor and the theory can be applied to other mediums.

We’ll wrap up with viewing the group’s work, discussion about what worked well, what you found challenging and your main takeaways.

· All necessary materials are provided

· Bring an apron or wear your painting clothes

Only 24 seats are available for this workshop. You must be at least 16 years old or with an adult.

This workshop is held at the Grand Theater in Old Town Lewisville. The address is 100 N. Charles Street and we will be in Classroom 1.
