Discernment in Deep Waters: A Confident Witch Circle

Still water gives back whatever stands over it, and it doesn't care whether that's a face, a hope, or a story you badly need to be true. That is why the feeling of truth makes such a poor instrument. It runs strongest exactly when the reflection is cleanest, and the reflection is cleanest when you have brought the most of yourself to the water. Anyone who has been taken in by a person, a group, or an ideology has hit this, and most of them walked away concluding they were stupid. They weren't. Discernment is a craft with real standards, and it can be taught.
This class works that craft through Norse myth and hands-on practice. We'll meet Hœnir, who looked precisely like a chieftain and had nothing behind the face, and follow young Sigurd, who took three streams of counsel inside a single hour from sources who variously loved him, hated him, and had no stake in him at all, and who sorted out the truth anyway. Out of his method comes a set of questions you can put to anything you are told, whether it arrives from a person or from a vision. Then we practice water scrying in a dark bowl with a verification step attached, using labradorite and sodalite for clear sight and clear thinking.
This is a workshop rather than a rite: no circle casting, no invocations, and nobody is asked to worship anything. Newcomers and experienced witches get the same lesson, questions are welcome the whole way through, and you can come once without joining anything.
