Carrollwood Players Theatre announces open auditions and offstage production opportunities for:
Disaster!
by Seth Rudetsky and Jack Plotnick
A Mainstage Musical
Directed by Thomas Pahl
Musical Direction Zachary Smith
Choreography Alli Thomas
Earthquakes, tidal waves, infernos and the unforgettable songs of the '70s take center stage in Broadway’s side-splitting homage to classic disaster films.
It's 1979, and New York's hottest A-listers are lining up for the opening of a floating casino and discotheque. Also attending is a faded disco star, a sexy nightclub singer with her eleven-year-old twins, a disaster expert, a feminist reporter, an older couple with a secret, a pair of young guys who are looking for ladies, an untrustworthy businessman and a nun with a gambling addiction.
What begins as a night of boogie fever quickly changes to panic as the ship succumbs to multiple disasters, such as earthquakes, tidal waves and infernos. As the night turns into day, everyone struggles to survive and, quite possibly, repair the love that they've lost... or at least escape the killer rats.
Dozens of the most unforgettable and scintillating hit songs of the '70s are hilariously woven into the story in this laugh-a-minute, toe-tapping musical comedy.
Presented with the support of the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners.
Disaster is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI.) All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI. www.mtishows.comAUDITION DATES:

Available Roles:
All roles will be singing and dancing throughout the show. If a Vocal Range is not listed we will assign you into your range groups during the first music rehearsal. We are looking for a diverse cast of adult actors across all age groups that have really good comedic chops.
Jackie Noelle (Presenting gender - Female, Age- Adult, Vocal range top - D5): An aging but still sexy former showgirl, current lounge singer, and mother. She is hoping that Tony will propose. Dumb but honest. Goldie Hawn-esque.
Ted Scheider (Presenting gender - Male, Age - Adult, Vocal range top - G4): A professor and "disaster expert" who tries to warn the others of the impending doom. Non-emotional. Dry. A serious, professorial type.
Tony Delvecchio (Presenting gender - Male, Age -Adult, Vocal range top - Ab4): The deceitful owner of the casino. A very unscrupulous but attractive and (sometimes) charming middle-aged man. A schemer.
Marianne Wilson (Presenting gender - Female, Age - Adult, Vocal range top - F#5): Reporter and ex-fiancée of Chad. She left him to pursue her career. An attractive and focused journalist. Insecure underneath it all. Great, high-pop belt.
Chad Rubik (Presenting gender - Male, Age - Adult, Vocal range top: B4): A flirtatious caterer at the casino who was previously engaged to Marianne. A handsome and winning man. Pretends to be a player, but is really still heartbroken over the loss of his first love. Tenor with a great rock and pop voice.
Levora Verona (Presenting gender - Female, Age - Adult, Vocal range top - E5): A washed-up singer hoping to hit it big in the casino. A flamboyant and glamorous faded disco diva. Pushy and sassy but in love with her sweet dog.
Sister Mary Downey (Presenting gender - Female, Age - Adult, Vocal range top - B5): An awkward, judgmental nun with a gambling addiction.
Scott (Presenting gender - Male, Age - Adult, Vocal range top: B4): Friend of Chad's and also a caterer at the casino. Goofy guy. A nerd who wants to be cool. Tenor with a sweet voice.
Ben and Lisa Noelle (Presenting gender - Any, Presenting Age - 10-13, Vocal range top - D5): Jackie's smart boy and girl twins. Played by one young actor. Honest and direct. Amazing pop voice. Shirley Winters (Presenting gender - Female, Age - 50 to 65, Vocal range top- B4): Lovable and jolly Jewish woman. Maury’s wife. Dancing a plus. Comedic role.
Maury Winters (Presenting gender - Male, Age - 50-65, Vocal range top - G4): The lovable and jolly devoted husband of Shirley.

What to Prepare:
Auditions will consist of vocal, dance, and acting components. (Due to time constraints, the acting component may be reserved for call backs.)
Vocals:
Please prepare close to, but no longer than, a 60 second cut of a 70's pop or ballad in the style of the show that demonstrates your range and acting skills. Please bring an mp3 track or YouTube karaoke track cued up on your phone/smart device. No A CAPPELLA or sheet music auditions. An accompanist will NOT be provided.
Dancing:
The dance session will include learning a brief dance combo. If you have any dance training or can safely perform any acro tricks, please note on the form. Time will be reserved at the end of the dance call for these specialized dancers. Please wear appropriate clothing and shoes.
Acting:
The acting portion of the audition will include cold readings from the script. We will be looking for characterization and good comedic timing. Note: The acting component may be reserved for callbacks only.
VIDEO AUDITIONS - PLEASE NOTE: We prefer to see all auditions in person. Requests for video submissions will only be considered if we are unable to source sufficient talent from those auditioning in person. If you wish to audition by video only, there is no need to complete this form. Please email us at [email protected] and we'll put you on our backup list.
ALTERNATE AUDITION DATES: We regret we are unable to schedule any auditions outside of the planned dates.
What to expect on your audition date:
We expect a LARGE turnout for auditions, and space is LIMITED. We regret we cannot admit any guests, companions, or observers with the exception of ONE parent or legal guardian accompanying auditioners under the age of 18.
Auditions begin at 7 p.m. and doors will open at 6:30 p.m. IMPORTANT information is covered at the beginning of each session, therefore it is imperative that you are prepared to begin on time. No auditioners will be admitted after 7:05 p.m.
You MAY apply to audition AND apply for offstage opportunities (in the event you are not cast), though some offstage positions may be filled prior to the audition dates. If you apply to audition AND to volunteer offstage, we will assume your first preference is to perform.
