About this Event
Disability, climate justice and emergency planning workshop
Hybrid – online and in person
What to Expect
Floods, power outages and fires are all becoming more frequent in Scotland. Are our governments and councils aware of the needs of disabled people in these emergencies?
Join us online or in person in Edinburgh to explore together how Scotland’s climate emergency planning can centre disabled people. Share your lived experience, shape our research, meet other disabled climate activists, and be involved in shaping the future of climate-disability justice in Scotland.
The aim of this event is:
- to create a space for people to consider how climate change weather events might impact on the lives of disabled people.
- to agree what measures need to be in place for disabled people to feel safe in times of weather emergencies.
- to start a plan for the future to ensure disabled people are included in emergency planning and climate adaptation
This workshop is open to all disabled people based in Scotland, whether you have engaged in climate work before or not. Limited spaces are available so please book to secure a place. Please inform us of any accessibility requirements 10 days before the event.
This event is a collaboration between Inclusion Scotland, the Environmental Rights Centre for Scotland and researchers from the Sensing Climate project
