The primal force known as Dirty Three returns to the stage. A rare opportunity to experience one of the most compelling, heart-wrenching instrumental bands of the past thirty years live!
Warren Ellis (violin), Mick Turner (guitar) and Jim White (drums) have created an entire universe of their own as Dirty Three: stormy, tender and utterly unpredictable. Their music is majestic, unpredictable and deeply human. Their albums are repeatedly swamped with great reviews and their concerts are always of an unparallelled intensity.
In the eye of this musical storm stands Warren Ellis, whose violin style is raw and delicate. Outside of Dirty Three, Ellis is best known for his close collaboration with Nick Cave, as a permanent member of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and as co-composer of countless film scores. Their haunting compositions have adorned films like The Proposition, The Road, Wind River and The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, as well as the documentary This Much I Know to Be True.
Live, Dirty Three is not your average band, it is a ritual without a script. Just three musicians dragging beauty out of chaos in a wordless, unfiltered dialogue.
Around this time last year, legendary instrumental trio Dirty Three released Love Changes Everything, their first album in twelve years, to widespread acclaim. Today, Warren, Mick and Jim – convinced it’s time to give the public what they want – have announced a UK and EU tour for the end of the year, their first since 2012. The tour includes just ten shows, with performances at the Barbican (London), Élysée Montmartre (Paris), and your very own AB.
