About this Event

Have the Time of Your Life!

Dirty Dancing at the Delaware Valley Opera's Historic Nutshell Music Hall

Join the Borscht Belt Historical Marker Project for a special Catskills evening celebrating history, music, and Dirty Dancing—the iconic film inspired by the Catskills resort era.

Before the film, join us for the dedication of the Borscht Belt Historical Marker Project's 19th historic marker, honoring the intertwined histories of Lake Huntington, Fosterdale, Kenoza Lake, and Callicoon—communities that formed a vibrant resort corridor where Jewish, Polish, Italian, Black, and health- and worker-focused resorts created a uniquely diverse Catskills summer culture.

The dedication begins at 5:00 PM at Sullivan West High School, the former site of the Green Acres Hotel. Special guest speaker Amy Goldbas, daughter of Esterita "Cissie" Blumberg, who owned and operated Green Acres Hotel, will share memories of her family's history.

Then, at 7:30 PM, continue the celebration at the nearby Delaware Valley Opera, formerly the historic Nutshell Music Hall, for a special screening of Dirty Dancing in this century-old theater overlooking Lake Huntington.

Popcorn and a full bar will be available throughout the evening.

Come for the marker, stay for the movie—or simply join us for Dirty Dancing!
