Dip and Discover: Family Freshwater Dip Netting

Join us for an immersive experience where you'll learn to collect and identify small freshwater creatures, unlocking vital insights into a pond's overall health. Discover the fascinating world of dragonflies, damselflies, and other aquatic insects, fish, and mollusks. Participants will better understand the delicate balance within these ecosystems and how human actions impact them.

This program is suitable for children ages 8 to 14 years old and their families. A parent or guardian is required to stay on-site to assist and supervise their child(ren) for the duration of the program.

Participants should bring a water bottle and wear clothing and shoes that can get wet. We recommend sun protection, bug spray, and closed-toe shoes, no flip-flops. Students will be using long-handled dip nets to scoop aquatic creatures from the edge of a pond. Please note there are no restrooms on site.
