What: In celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, Veterans Memorial Hall and Museum, in partnership with Pec Playhouse Theatre, are proud to present a signature community event:
“Dinner with the Founders.”
This immersive, historically inspired evening will bring our nation’s founding moment to life, right here in Rockford. Guests will step into 1776 becoming the Continental Congress and engaging with the men of the “Party of Five” that shaped our country, portrayed by talented local actors and celebrities, including Master of Ceremony Paul Logli and featuring Kris Tumilowicz “Dr T” as Thomas Jefferson in a setting that is both educational and unforgettable. This event is more than a dinner, it is a tribute to the ideals of freedom, sacrifice, and civic responsibility that continue to define our nation. Period clothing is encouraged but not mandatory. Hosted at Veterans Memorial Hall, a place dedicated to honoring those who served, the evening connects our founding generation with the generations who have defended those freedoms ever since. Funds will help Veterans Memorial Hall and Museum honor Veterans, and Pec Playhouse Theatre build their new theater,
Dinner will feature Beef Tenderloin, Salmon, Baked Chicken or a Vegetarian Entrée upon request, along with a complement of side dishes and Apple Pie. Guest will enjoy a special price ($2.50) on our signature drink Sam Adams Boston Lager. One signature beverage is included with each dinner ticket. A full cash bar will be available.
The event will conclude with Dr. T leading a lively Patriotic Sing-A-Long.

Why: The United States is approaching the 250th anniversary of its founding, because 2026 marks 250 years since the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. That document formally announced that the thirteen American colonies were separating from Great Britain and establishing a new nation based on principles like self-government, individual rights, and equality (at least as they were understood at the time). So, the 250th celebration isn’t about when every part of the country was settled or incorporated (for example, Rockford came much later). It’s about the moment the United States officially defined itself as an independent nation.
