About this Event

Digital Futures brings together leading creatives, technologists and educators to explore how digital innovation is reshaping live performance, now and in the years ahead. From immersive environments and simulation to movement, visualisation and education, this panel discussion looks at how emerging technologies are transforming the way we create, train and experience performance.

The event will be chaired by Hansjörg Schmidt, Director of Production and Design at the Guildhall School.


Panellists & Themes

Willie WilliamsImprovisation
Willie Williams is a British show director, lighting and video designer renowned for his inventive work in live concert staging and multimedia performance. Best known for his long collaboration with U2, he has helped redefine how music and visual technology merge in modern touring productions.

Roger KneeboneSimulation
Roger Kneebone is a British surgeon, general practitioner, and medical educator best known for pioneering the integration of medicine, performance, and craft in medical training. He is Professor of Surgical Education and Engagement Science at Imperial College London and a leading voice in simulation-based and interdisciplinary learning.

Andi WatsonVisualisation
Andi Watson is a British creative technologist, artist, and designer known for integrating engineering, light, and digital media into immersive performance environments. His cross-disciplinary work bridges art, science, and technology to enhance audience experience through inventive use of stage, video, and lighting design.

Anna FoxTraining
Anna Fox is a British theatre professional and technical director at the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC). She oversees technical production and stagecraft operations for one of the United Kingdom’s leading repertory theatre organisations.

Mike TuckerPrimary Education
Mike Tucker is a British education leader best known for his role with the Shakespeare Schools Foundation, a national charity that uses performance and participation in Shakespeare plays to improve young people’s confidence and teamwork skills. His work centers on expanding access to creative education through the annual Shakespeare Schools Festival, which brings together thousands of schools and students across the UK.

Suzy WillsonMovement
Suzy Willson is a British choreographer, director, and educator best known as Co-Artistic Director of the performance company Clod Ensemble and creator of the Performing Medicine initiative. She has spent nearly three decades redefining the intersections of movement, music, and medicine through innovative performance and education.

This 90-minute conversation invites artists, technologists, educators and students to reflect on the evolving landscape of live performance.

The discussion will be followed by informal drinks and music, an opportunity to continue the conversation and connect with fellow attendees.

Join us at Milton Court Theatre for an evening of ideas, inspiration and future-facing performance.

Guildhall School is based in the heart of the City of London, and is part of the Barbican complex, next door to the Barbican Centre.
