Are you feeling overwhelmed by the amount of digital files in your life? Have you been wanting to build an archive for your creative practice or organization, but don’t know where to start?
Sam Meister of Future Access For All in collaboration with Debra Scacco Studio and Corrina Peipon of Continuous Project are here to help by providing Digital Archiving for Artists, a free convening designed to inspire and educate participants about the utility, beauty, and lived practice of archiving.
This immersive event will illuminate the often-intimidating and overwhelming concept and process of archiving. During a brief conservation we will share experiences, rationales, and rubrics for applying digital archiving practices not only to storage for posterity but also and equally to materials and research actively being created and used. Then, through a series of hands-on exercises, participants will develop the foundational elements of a strategy to build and maintain an archive for their creative practice or organizational setting. Participants will come away with simple, practical steps they can start taking to integrate archiving into the creative process.
