Isthmus Montessori Academy opened its doors in 2012 as a private, non-profit organization rooted in the believe that AMI Montessori education should be available and accessible to all children and families. Beginning with just two classrooms, the school has grown rapidly in its 12 year history.
In 2018, Isthmus Montessori Academy Public was established, marking history by becoming the first public Montessori school in the Madison area. Now home to infant, toddler, preschool, elementary, and middle and high school classrooms, Isthmus Montessori Academy Public remains the only public Montessori school in the area.
Today, the school remains located in the vibrant north-east side of Madison and continues to raise funds for an expansion of current spaces to meet the growing need and desire for public Montessori education in our area; as well as the needs for our current learners and their holistic development.
Join us for the annual Digging in the Grass volleyball tournament fundraiser to support Isthmus Montessori Academy’s continued enrichment of the outdoor environments and the school’s ongoing expansion!
The tournament will host three divisions, with one court per division, and all divisions are open to the public:
* Children's Division (Elementary)
* Junior High/High School Division
* Adult Division (B Division, no gender rule)
Teams must include 5-6 people, with a suggested entry fee of $120 per team* (approximately $20 per participant). The cost of a tournament t-shirt is included in the entry fee.
*The suggested entry fee is a sliding scale, and teams should contact Kara Oehler at [email protected] if unable to pay the full entry fee but would still like to participate. If your team is willing and able to donate more than the suggested amount, the gesture would be greatly appreciated. Our goal is always to increase accessibility, and have fun supporting a great cause!
Games will be played two sets to a score of 21, with a tournament point awarded by sets won. There will be no officials, and participants/spectators will be expected to officiate their own game. The 1st place team in each division will be awarded prizes.
A staff vs. students volleyball match will be held at 5:00 pm, with $2 tickets for sale at the gate.
