Join us at the Idaho Museum of Mining and Geology (IMMG) 2455 Old Penitentiary Rd. for a fantastic time cracking geodes and an optional easy 40-minute geology hike on the nearby Table Rock hillside. Of course, you'll also want to go inside our small, beautiful Museum.
Geode-cracking takes place from 11am-2pm under shade canopies on the grass of the historic Old Pen Women’s Ward. Hikes are scheduled for Noon and 1pm.
This event is a fundraiser for the IMMG. The Museum receives no state or federal funding. We are operated solely by the efforts of volunteers!
Admission Fee: Please read carefully as there are different admission fees for Museum Members and Non-Members
- Adult Non-Members of the Museum - $10 admission per adult
- Children of Non-Members of the Museum - $5 admission per child
- Adult Individual Museum Member and their children- free admission
- Family Museum Membership - family and children free admission
* ALL children – Member and Non-Member – will receive a small geode included in their Admission at no cost.
In addition, we have an exciting selection of geodes with different prices based on the size of the geode and its country of origin. Select the ones of your choice and we’ll crack it open for you! You can help us crack it, if you wish.
If you have never seen a geode cracked open with a giant pipe-cutter, you are in for an exciting moment. What Mother Nature has created is truly amazing.
