Dig + Disconnect is Miyagi Records’ weekly workshop series built around slow listening, creative practice, and community time.

Each session opens up a different entry point into music culture — from digging and taste-making to open decks, zine-making, guest selectors, and hands-on skill-building. It’s for collectors, DJs, artists, listeners, and anyone looking to step away from the scroll and reconnect with sound in real life.

Join (Re)Birth Society and Miyagi Records for an interactive Intro to DJ Workshop & Jam Session! In this beginner-level session, participants will be introduced to the art of vinyl and digital DJ-ing, working hands-on with gear and equipment while learning the fundamentals of the craft and culture of DJ-ing! Following the lesson, we will curate an experimental musical-movement experience, during which participants will be encouraged to test their new skills by playing prompt-inspired selections for their classmates to move, groove and vibe to. These prompts are designed to inspire creativity, reflection, and collective visioning, as we foster connection and expression through music and movement. This workshop exists to make access to specialized musical education more accessible to our community caretakers.
