In this exhibition of Lexie Bouwsma and Richard Menendez, the artists explore the deep and complicated complexities of love and relationship
About this Event

“nothing in this world was more difficult than love.”---- Gabriel García Márquez

Inspired by the works of Gabriel, this exhibit joins the surreal, magical works of Lexie Bouwsma and Richard Menendez.

Lexie’s works on paper combine line-work and gestures inspired from centuries-old woodcuts, and a vaudeville, slapstick style, “I use sticks, brushes, and syringes to swirl ink around my figures creating sentient dream-like landscapes. My figures are extremely sensitive, but they frequently misidentify their emotions. They have their own coping mechanisms, and in some cases they simply don’t cope.”

Richard’s whimsical and highly detailed, oil painted scenes have their own form of pathos, addressing unexpected love, addiction, and dogs.

This show will be up for one month. Come see the opening reception September 19th from 5-8. No RSVP is required for the reception.
