Die Harsh: A Christmas Musical, Grindstone Theatre's sold-out Die Hard parody, returns for its fifth year, and yes, it's still ridiculous. Catch it at the Orange Hub Mainstage Theatre (10045 156 St NW) from December 17 to 30, with evening shows at 7:30 pm.
This year brings more laughs, some fresh faces, and an even better show. Writers Byron Martin and Simon Abbott, who also gave Edmonton the sold-out Jason Kenney's Hot Boy Summer, Accidental Beach and (Thunder)CATS, are back at it with another satirical, laugh-your-pants-off comedy for the holidays.
Director Sarah Dowling says audiences can expect everything they know and love from a Grindstone Original: "Die Harsh is special because it captures the essence of the Holiday Season like no other show does. Machine guns, German terrorists, tortured pasts and tap dancing police… or is that just Christmas at my house? This ain't your daddy's Die Hard and this ain't your mama's Hallmark Holiday Special, but this will be your new Christmas tradition year after year after year."

Sexy German criminal Hans Schmuber leads an international gang of terrorists who take over an office tower during a Christmas party. John McWayne, a cop from New York, is stuck on the upper floors, and he'll need a Christmas miracle to save his power-dressing wife Holly and the rest of the hostages. It's a Die-Hard-Christmas-Carol that's about as stupid as it sounds, with action-packed comedy, tap-dancing FBI agents and heartbreaking flashbacks of kids who are coughing too much.
