Somers Gallery, MexiBrit and the Embassy of Mexico in the UK present the greatest Day of the Dead Festival outside Mexico on Saturday, 28th October in London’s Ossulston Street, just a stone’s throw from Kings Cross.
The Day of the Dead (Dia de Muertos) is the most authentic and ancient Mexican celebration. On Día de Muertos we remember our loved ones with special food, drinks, decorations, humour, music and friends. In 2008, UNESCO recognized the importance of Día de los Muertos by adding the holiday to its list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Our festival presents a diverse range of activities for children and adults, including a lively Mexican market featuring the best of the Mexican food and drink scene in London, as well as a wonderful selection of stalls selling arts & crafts. Mexican Mariachis are performing on the stage along with other Mexican and Latin bands.
Expect creative workshops, poetry, children’s theatre by Itzatna and of course the so much-loved parade and a traditional Ofrenda at Somers Gallery along with many other activities for all ages.
At the Story Garden we will be celebrating the highest form of art; Agriculture, Corn, Cacao, Chia, Amaranth, Tomato, Chilli and more ingredients will be prepared while we listen to ancient stories and myths.
We are really thrilled to announce the screening of the classic movie ‘Macario,’ 1960 along with other films.
Stage line up:
Mul Kala, La Guerrera, Manzana Tropical, Mariachi el Mexicano joined by surprise and folk dance and music.
The main procession will be led by various dance companies joined by local groups at 4:30 pm.

Ossulston Street is next to the British Library and between Euston and Kings Cross and StPancras International Station.
