The Mexico City Day of the Dead parade is held annually in October. This must-see event features hundreds of performers in elaborate costumes giant skulls altars adorned with flowers and floats.

The annual parade was created to celebrate Mexico’s most visually stunning holiday Día de Los Muertos or Dia de Muertos.

A 3-day celebration for those who have passed. What a fantastic tradition to remember all the great times. And is one of the best places in Mexico to celebrate the Dia de Muertos. While the parade itself is not exactly traditional it is unique and a whole lot of fun.

About the event:

The parade is known as the Gran Desfile de Día de Muertos and usually starts in the afternoon around 2:00 PM lasting for about 4-5 hours. The event attracts millions of people and features large skeleton puppets alebrijes (mythical creatures) traditional dancers and marigolds taking place along Avenida Paseo de la Reforma and concluding at the Zócalo.
