We are excited to share about our Dia de Kriansa / Children Day Celebration to promote and celebrate Cabo Verdean Culture/ Amilcar Cabral’s 100th BirthdayA children's and family event of Cape Verdean culture that embraces the Rich Tapestry of our Afro-indigenous Cultures. The day will includes cultural children's games, music, storytelling by BIPOC artists, and food allowing for families to enjoy picnic style gathering to uplift our community.
The celebration will be on June 1st. June 1st marks National Children's Day in the Cabo Verde Islands, a day where the nation comes together to celebrate the future – our children. Amilcar Cabral, the African Revolutionary Leader, once proclaimed that "children are the flower of the revolution." Coincidentally, 2024 will mark the centenary of Cabral's birth, making this celebration all the more fitting. Cabral's legacy resonates in our celebration, as he championed the importance of children, the arts, culture, and liberation.
“This event is supported in part by the Art is Everywhere! grant funded by the City of New Bedford, through American Rescue Plan awards, and its Arts, Culture and Tourism Fund, and is facilitated by New Bedford Creative at the NBEDC.” This event is partnership with Ubuntu “Cabral, Allen C.
