Her Health Battle
Devan just underwent her third emergency abdominal surgery in just four years. Recovery is grueling, both physically and emotionally. She is exhausted, in significant pain, and facing weeks of healing ahead which means she is unable to work lifting heavy things or lift her child. It is unknown as of now if she needs to have another surgery before leaving the hospital.
A Double Caregiver Burden
Despite her own pain, Devan is a single mom to a vibrant 2-year-old son who she has 75 percent of the time, and she is also the primary caregiver for her mother, who recently suffered a debilitating stroke. Her mom’s recovery will take months of therapy and round-the-clock care. Devan is trying to heal herself while holding her entire family together.
The Travel Nightmare
While Devan was already stretched thin, a crisis struck out of state. Her son contracted RSV while they were traveling, which led to a terrifying health scare and left them longer. On top of the medical stress, they faced absolute chaos with the airlines—canceled flights, lost reservations, and unexpected hotel and meal costs that drained her emergency funds just trying to get back home.
The Final Blow
While Devan was trapped miles away, worried sick about her sick baby, she trusted a friend to use my car to help run errands. Instead, that friend completely trashed and wrecked the vehicle, getting into a major accident. The car is now undriveable.
That car wasn’t just a luxury—it was Devan’s lifeline. She needs it to get to her own post-op doctor appointments, to take her mom to physical therapy, and to get her son to daycare when she physically can't carry him.
How the Funds Will Be Used
We are raising funds to cover:
1. Devan’s medical bills and lost wages during her surgical recovery.
2. Essential transportation – either repairing the wrecked car or putting a down payment on a safe, reliable used vehicle.
3. Family expenses – catching up on bills depleted by the Wyoming airline fiasco and the extra costs of caring for a stroke survivor and a toddler while out of work.
