Detroit Junior Roller Derby Summer Bootcamp

Junior Beginner Bootcamp consists of 4 skating sessions that are 2 -3 hours each session. The schedule of sessions is below:

Sunday, August 9th, 2026

12:00 pm - 1:00 pm registration

1:00 pm - 3:00 pm bootcamp

Tuesday, August 11th, 2026

5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Thursday, August 13th, 2026

5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Saturday, August 15th, 2026

10:00 am - 1:00 pm EVALUATION DAY

The week of these skating sessions are meant as a sport sampling opportunity to discover your inner skater waiting to burst forth into a future Detroit Roller Derby junior athlete.

On the last day of the bootcamp your child's skating skills will be assessed. The assessment will determine if they possess the skills to continue onto becoming a DJRD member, or if they will need to return for another bootcamp and continue to grow their skills before being invited to join the team. We do this assessment for the safety of the skaters! We want to ensure everyone who joins has the skills to thrive and succeed.

If your child does not have access to protective gear or skates, no worries we have a gear and skate lending library that might fit all of your equipment needs. We only require them to bring a mouthguard.

Sisu is our preferred brand because it can be remolded, you must have it molded and ready for use before first time attending. Be sure to double check the size before ordering. You can find one here.
