Lunar New Year Neighborhood Celebration Welcomes the Year of the Fire Horse in Chinatown Detroit

Detroit Shipping Company will host a Lunar New Year Neighborhood Celebration on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM, inviting the public to celebrate alongside the businesses of Chinatown Detroit.

The event marks the Year of the Fire Horse, a symbol of energy, transformation, and forward momentum in the Chinese zodiac, with a day of cultural programming designed to encourage connection, exploration, and neighborhood support.

Programming at Detroit Shipping Company includes an artisan market, food and beverage specials, DJ music, a free QiGong class, red envelope giveaways, and additional cultural activities. The celebration concludes with a Lion Dance performance at 7:00 PM at The Peterboro restaurant.
