The sacred despacho ritual, a central practice of the Q’ero and Quechua peoples of the Andes. A despacho is a mandala-like bundle or offering, a gift to Pachamama and to spirit/creator. This gift is also used to transmit intentions of gratitude and blessing, using earths elements as the sacred messengers.
Juan and Ivan Nuñez del Prado will guide us in this day long deep dive into the history and significance of this sacred blessing ceremony and why it is so profound in our daily lives as a tool for reciprocity with the world around us.
By calling in the helping spirits of the earth, the mountains, the elements, the animal archetypes, the sky, the ancestors, at the start and throughout, the Paqo sets the stage for support in carrying the prayers to spirit/creator. A despacho is an act of love and a reminder of the connections we share with all beings, elements, spirits, and sacred places. At the deepest level, it is an opportunity to enter into the essential unity of all things, the living energy of the universe.
The ceremony brings participants into alignment with their personal intent, the group intent, and gratitude to the earth which supports us in all our endeavors. The despacho ceremony is used to honor milestones of life: births and birthdays; marriage unions; holidays; new years, solstices, and equinoxes; new moons and full moons. The earthkeepers of the Andes teach us that any process can be supported with ceremony, which invites the quieting of the mind and the opening of the heart to speak and lead. This is the language of the soul. Thus the practice of the sacred despacho offers the message of gratitude to Pachamama, our mother and our home, and to the unseen worlds, in a way that goes beyond words.
With the community, through the sharing of Blessings, all of which strengthen the luminous fibers that connect us all.
Intention. Blessing. Ceremony. Ritual. Reciprocity. Alignment.

About your instructors:
Juan Nuñez del Prado
Among world experts on the Q’ero, royal descendants of ancient Inkans, Juan Nuñez del Prado is without peer – unparalleled in his knowledge, experience, and pure transmission of Peruvian wisdom to Western culture. Sought for his teachings by every variety of spiritual seeker, from young Qero to seasoned academics, Juan Nunez is a master’s master, a ceaseless learner of the Spiritual Art of living – in a world where “everything is alive.”
Himself a native of Peru’s Q’ero provinces, Juan Nuñez del Prado first met the Q’ero as a young boy in 1955 when his anthropologist father, Dr. Oscar Nuñez del Prado, found the ancient culture hidden in the highest altitudes of the Andes Mountains. There began Juan’s lifelong devotion to Andean spirituality and supernatural realities. Following the legacy of his father, Juan Nuñez studied anthropology at the University of Cusco in Peru, teaching, researching, immersing himself in the Q’ero world – becoming in time the first outlying initiate of their revered shamanic tradition. He embarked on 30 years of study with three major indigenous shaman, including Don Benito Qoriwaman – plus numerous other masters including Don Andres Espinoza, Don Melchor Deza, Don Manuel Qispe, and Don Mariano Apaza. Wholly dedicated to the sanctity of long-preserved Inkan practices, Juan Nuñez del Prado evolved into a leading shaman within the Q’ero community, emerging as the preeminent global teacher of Inkan enlightenment.
In keeping with the supreme Inkan principle of Ayni – reciprocity – Juan continuously shares the sacred Inkan teachings around the world and shares his work with all humans who have intention to grow spiritually. Yet, true to Andean simplicity, he teaches without fanfare – no major publicity or glossy books, but with the intent of delivering teachings intact, through authentic content he has condensed into a system of courses over a lifetime. Known for his straight style, Juan translates Q’ero teachings with unfiltered candor, keeping the essential integrity of the heritage without the trappings of promotion.
Under the guidance of Juan Nuñez del Prado, initiates learn to ‘walk with living energy,’ grounded in personal power, in harmony with the universe. Through the processes of spiritual exercises, they access the human seed of potential within. Through initiations and ceremonies, in connection with spirits and sacred landscapes, spiritual explorers of every background initiate profound lifelong transformation with one of the world’s most important spiritual teachers.
Ivan Núñez del Prado:
Ivan is the son of Juan Núñez del Prado and has been working with him for many years. Like his father, he found himself drawn to the Inca religion, the Inca culture, and the Andean cosmovision. At the age of seven he received his first initiation at the Festival of Qoyllur Rit’i. Later, he became a member of the Catholic Easter Movement, practiced Sufism and participated in meetings of the Presbytarians.
In 1991 he received the initiation into the 4th level of consciousness, called Karpay Ayni. The following year, he took part for the first time in the Hatun Karpay, the spiritual journey to the Incas’ ancient power places. Ivan organized and participated in the first meeting of the Inca religion with Tibetan Buddhism when Lama Lopön Chechoo Rinpoche (Karma Kajyu) came to visit Cusco.
Having completed many different initiations with great masters of different traditions, he now teaches his knowledge and wisdom to groups in Europe and the United States.
