Despacho ceremony ; Prayers for the Earth
About this Event
`Prayers for the Earth, A Despacho Ceremony
an invitation to step away from the noise of everyday life and experience two beautiful ceremonies from the ancient Q'ero tradition of the High Andes of Peru.
The evening begins with the creation of a Despacho, a living prayer to Mother Earth, lovingly woven together with flowers, seeds, sweets, prayers, and intentions. As each offering is placed into the despacho, we honour the sacredness of life itself, remembering that we are not separate from the Earth, but part of a living web of relationship. Through gratitude and reciprocity, we invite greater harmony, balance, and beauty into our lives.
At this particular time in our world, we come together to bring balance back to the land, and to our own lives.
As dusk gives way to darkness, we gather outside on the land
For thousands of years, people have gathered around fires to mark life's turning points; to give thanks, to seek guidance, to release the past, and to welcome new beginnings. In the glow of the flames, we are invited to let go of the fears, stories, and burdens we no longer need to carry, trusting the fire to transform them into light.
This year, because the earth is so parched and dry, we will offer Mother Earth a ceremony of water.. where we place our offerings into the water to bring harmony, balance, beauty and love to the forefront of our hearts and minds
These ceremonies are simple, deeply moving, and open to everyone. No previous experience is needed, only a willingness to come with an open heart.
Whether you arrive seeking healing, clarity, peace, or simply a deeper connection with yourself and the natural world, you will be welcomed into a safe and sacred space held with care and respect.
The evening is held by Chris Waters, founder of Spirit of the Inca School of Energy Medicine. For more than 25 years she has walked alongside the wisdom keepers of the Q'ero tradition, sharing these teachings through ceremonies, the Medicine Wheel, and practitioner trainings.
Come as you are.
Leave feeling lighter, clearer, and with a renewed sense of belonging—to yourself, to the Earth, and to the path that is quietly unfolding before you.
A despacho is a living prayer
It's a prayer of gratitude. Our shamans believe in reciprocity: what you give, you always will receive. But more than that, a despacho is a prayer to great spirit to bring healing, balance and harmony. When we are out of balance our world can seem harsh, uncertain and unsafe and nothing seems to work as we expect.
A despacho is their way of healing into harmony so that we can flow easily through life. Everyone who attends is part of the experience. There is nothing to do or be, just arrive as you are, and leave a little more inspired and a little lighter.
The Water Ceremony
In the Inca tradition, fire is sacred, a living presence, a teacher, a bridge between worlds.
Fire purifies, clarifies, and heals. It is a space where we can gently lay down what we no longer need: old stories, energies, worn-out identities, and trust that they are received with the same unconditional love that Father Sun holds for all of life.
On this particular evening we will be honouring the water.. mamacocha, the oceans, the seas the rivers, the lakes, the rain and all forms of water.. since water gives life to all liviing things. in a time when wild fires are burning actoss the landscape of many countries it seems appropriate to bring water to the foreground as a way to hnour what the land is missing,.
We will bring our offerings to the water, placing flowers into the water is a beautiful way to say thankyou for the beauty that exists in our world.
In ceremony something ancient stirs within us…
A quiet remembering.
Beyond the mind, beyond the stories; our soul recognises this space.
It knows that something sacred is unfolding here… something real, something magical.``
When you arrive at our door, perhaps tired, perhaps quietly longing for something softer, more loving, more in harmony with the truth of who you are, you are stepping into what we call Munay… a love that asks for nothing, and gives everything.
The same love that Pachamama holds for all her children.
These teachings were carried from the High Andes by the Q’ero, shared with us in the West at this time because they knew they would be needed… remembered.
And when you join us... even for a single evening, held in these beautiful ceremonies, something within you begins to shift.
You return home feeling lighter, held, and reconnected… as if a part of you has quietly come back into place.
Come.. just come... and have the experience with us... we know you won't regret it!
