DESIRE — the Montreal synth-pop duo of vocalist Megan Louise and producer Johnny Jewel, makers of a neon-noir world of cinematic longing and midnight glamour. Their song "Under Your Spell" became a defining moment of Nicolas Winding Refn's Drive and carried their dreamlike sound across the globe; their music has since moved through runways for Dior, Chanel and Bottega Veneta and been reimagined by artists like Kid Cudi. A fourth album is on the way.
JOHNNY JEWEL — composer, producer and founder of Italians Do It Better, the visionary behind Chromatics, Glass Candy and Desire. In his own set, analog synthesizers, projected film and sweeping soundscapes turn the room into a movie — a catalogue running from Drive to David Lynch's Twin Peaks: The Return ("Shadow") and scores for Chanel, Dior and Bottega Veneta.
MOTHERMARY — the darkly radiant electro-pop / darkwave project of twin sisters Elyse and Larena Winn. Raised in a strict Mormon household in Montana, they recast repression and rebellion as gothic-glam ritual: 1980s drum machines, cinematic synthesizers and twin vocal incantations, suspended somewhere between club, church and fever dream. Their debut I Am Your God is out on Italians Do It Better.
