About this Event
Workshop Description
A flourishing life for ourselves and our neighbors is directly tied to the deepest desires of our hearts. We make choices and act in ways that are a reflection of those desires, sometimes leading to good and sometimes to destruction. Our desires can be shaped by the world and the shame so often embedded in its messaging of who we should be and how we should live, or our desires can be shaped by the God who loves us. We will look at practices for discerning the will (desires) of God and drawing our hearts and minds into alignment with His.
All workshops include a light lunch where participants have the opportunity to engage with one another, ask questions of our speaker, and continue discussing themes and issues raised during the talk.
About Our Speaker
Kimberly is a Western PA girl who grew up in the small college town of Indiana, the “home of Jimmy Stewart,” before embarking on adventures living in Pittsgurgh, Durham North Carolina, and Burlington Vermont before arriving in Lancaster 37 years ago. Wheatland Presbyterian has been her home church from its very beginning as a church plant. She is a gardener and musician at heart, and currently works as a Family Nurse Practitioner rooted in women’s and mental health. Her secret desire is to run a farm as a spafe space for women to garden and care for animals as a road to healing.
About The Good Neighbor Project
We invite you to take a deep dive into what it really means to follow the way of Jesus and seek the good of your neighbors in your present place and context. Our programs invite people into spaces where they can deepen their experience, understanding, and practice of loving God and their neighbors.
