DesignTinkers 5-day Camp 2 (Nov)

A 5-day Holiday Camp designed for children to explore various make and build projects; to test ideas through hands-on exploration, training dexterity, creative and critical thinking while learning new skills.

On Day 1 and 2, students will be designing and building their ideal playground + communal space, exploring what makes a playground space fun and memorable. Working in groups, students are encouraged to be creative in their findings as they apply Design Thinking principles in understanding the needs and challenges of who they are designing for.

On Day 3 and 4, students will learn the differences and challenges of living on Mars vs. Earth before creating their own Martian land base model and learn to plan the floor layout of their home on Mars with consideration for spaces to live, shelter, clothing, farming, supply of air, water and electricity for habitation. Students will get creative and have fun prototyping their home design on Mars with everyday objects and model-making materials.

On the last day (Day 5), Students will learn all about Buckminster Fuller’s Geodesic Dome and the benefits of a Biodome to create their own smaller dome structure (25cm Diameter) in this condensed 1-day holiday camp.

Learn the topics of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Architecture and Maths, in the process of building up a Geodesic Biodome diorama and designing a greenhouse environment. Students will get to test the strength of their Geodesic Dome structure when made.

DesignTinkers camps are specially curated and led by instructors who are experienced architects, designers and educators with the passion and experience working with young children to nurture their creative interests. Camps are held in our spacious and conducive classroom for children to explore creatively under guidance.
