DesignHer Networking: Peer Mentoring
About this Event
DesignHer is a unique peer-powered network to support people from underrepresented backgrounds to access opportunities within the creative industries. The network was founded by Buttercrumble, a female-led design studio, who are reimagining traditional business networks by placing belonging and lived experience at its core.
The network welcomes West Yorkshire women (inclusive of trans and non-binary people) who face barriers due to class, race, disability, gender identity or caring responsibilities, to join a series of get-togethers. The sessions combine guest mentoring and peer-to-peer exchange. Plus – between events – members can access an online hub of resources to stay connected and inspired.
DesignHer is currently touring West Yorkshire with events hosted in accessible and welcoming spaces across the region.

Each session is:

Gathering theme: finding work
There will be a key theme for each gathering based on the current challenges or opportunities of the group. The agenda will provide specific timings to cover:
- A short talk about skills
- Upcoming creative events
- Creative opportunities
- Asks & offers
- Time to network
The venue
Located at the Community Room at John Lewis. It's a small welcoming space for group conversations.
Accessibility
The gathering will take place on the fourth-floor (upstairs) and has lift acess. If you have any specific access requirements, please get in touch with [email protected].
Getting here
The Community Room is located on the fourth floor of John Lewis at Victoria Gate, Leeds (LS2 7AR). From Leeds train station, it’s a 10–15 minute walk via Boar Lane and Briggate; taxis take around 5 minutes. Many buses stop nearby on Eastgate, Vicar Lane or the Headrow, just a short walk away. If driving, use Victoria Gate car park (LS2 7AU) and follow signs to John Lewis.
