Target Audience: DSL's in Early Years Settings
This training is for Desingated Safeguarding Leads (DSL) in early years settings. It recognises the unique nature of early years considering safeguarding practice within an early years context. Linking to the Early years Foundation Stage Safeguarding and Welfare Requirements, this training explores the role of the DSL and how to implement effective safeguarding processes and procedures to promote children’s wellbeing and keep them safe.

Session Objectives:
· Develop a clear understanding of the role of the safeguarding designated lead
· Know how to implement the EYFS Safeguarding and Welfare Requirements
· Understand how local and national research, legislation, guidance and knowledge informs best practice for safeguarding children
· Know how to recognise and respond to risks which may increase the risk of harm
· Understand the referral process and the DSL role within that
· Understand how to create a culture of safeguarding
