Design Thinking and Collaboration Principles in an Architectural Context

This presentation will provide an overview of the Design Thinking approach, principles, and tools. The Sculptform pre-construction team will present solutions where techniques were used to aid designers in reaching their original design intent using real-life examples.

Christian will guide you through his nonlinear journey from architect to design thinker, complete with practical tasks to help you develop a collaborative mindset. After completing this session, you'll be equipped to apply design thinking strategies to produce better outcomes in the architectural setting. A range of Sculptform case studies will also be shared, focusing on how architects and designers can utilise their supplier connections within designs. The presentation will conclude with a Q&A, followed by networking drinks and light refreshments.

Christian Duell is an award-winning educator, facilitator and social entrepreneur. He is the founder of White Light Education, former Manager of the Asia Pacific Design Library, RMIT Online Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Academic Board Member for the Analytics Institute of Australia. Emerging from a background in architecture, Christian has over 20 years of design education and facilitation experience across a wide range of contexts. Since establishing White Light Education in 2016 Christian has facilitated hundreds of workshops and training sessions with thousands of people across the world.

Christian is passionate about empowering individuals and organisations, through the tools of design, to have greater freedom and quality of choice. He specialises in facilitation and training in the areas of Design Thinking, Human-Centred Design and Co-Design, with a focus on tackling complex challenges.
