OUR SEPTEMBER PROGRAM
Join us Wednesday, September 9th to learn about the torties.

Desert tortoises are iconic wildlife of our desert, but most people rarely see them. Most of us don't really know that much about them either. Yet it's crucial that we understand these essential members of our local ecology, since their numbers have declined substantially in recent years.
Erica Shafer will guide us to a better understanding of these fascinating creatures. She may even bring a tortoise or two to greet us! Erica is the Adoption Chair with the California Turtle and Tortoise Club (CTTC) High Desert Chapter and a wildlife biologist for OrniLogic in the Mojave Desert. CTTC has 13 Chapters in California and is a rescue and club for reptile lovers. CTTC focuses on education and conservation of all turtle and tortoise species, with the goal of adopting our animals into safe, loving homes. One of CTTC's main focuses is bringing awareness to the endangered Mojave Desert Tortoise.

The Mojave Group meets at the Sterling Inn, 17738 Francesca Rd, Victorville, CA 92395 (just off Ridgecrest Road, one block north of Bear Valley Rd).

Note: we meet in the Media Room, at the north end of the building. Easiest entry is off Lindero Street; park near the NORTH side and enter at the entrance with the overhead carport (near the covered parking area).
