About this Event

As America marks the 250th anniversary of its founding, discover how the stories of the Revolutionary generation continue to shape lives today.

Join the Clark County Historical Museum on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at the Fort Vancouver Visitor Center for a fascinating evening exploring genealogy, family history, patriotism, and the enduring legacy of the American Revolution.

Featured presenters John Russell, President of the Fort Vancouver Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, and Peri Muhich of the Vancouver Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will share their personal journeys tracing family connections to the Revolutionary War era. Through stories, research discoveries, and historical insights, attendees will gain a deeper understanding of how ordinary families became part of the nation's extraordinary founding story.

The presentation will also explore:

• How descendants uncover Revolutionary War ancestors and document family connections

• The missions of the Sons and Daughters of the American Revolution today

• Historic preservation, education, and community outreach efforts undertaken by both organizations

• Resources available to help individuals begin their own genealogical research

• Information about membership opportunities for those who discover qualifying family connections

Whether you are a seasoned genealogist, curious about your family's past, interested in local history, or simply looking to learn more about the people who helped shape the United States, this program offers a unique opportunity to connect with the living legacy of the American Revolution.

This special presentation is part of the Clark County Historical Museum's America 250 programming initiative and monthly Speaker Series.
