Derry Exit 4A Project Public Meeting

Bike-ped, Rail Trail, climate, transportation, and Community advocates, PLEASE ATTEND THIS PUBLIC MEETING, ***WEARING SAFETY YELLOW*** (or any "high-Viz" colored clothing) to lshow your support for RESTORING THE "TUNNEL PLAN" along the Derry Rail Trail!

This important project has been in the works for years. It involves building an access road directly over the Derry Rail Trail corridor. Rail Trail, bike-ped, community advocates want & have always expected to have a short TUNNEL built under this access road, along the existing Derry Rail Trail corridor, as it is the safest, simplest & shortest solution for rail trail users.

NH DOT is trying to go with a totally different (slightly cheaper) "spaghetti plan" option, an UNSAFE design that includes up & down grades of 5%, 90-degree turns, a 180-degree switchback, shared use of a sidewalk, travel under a bridge built to span a brook known to flood, and optionally crossing 6-lanes of traffic on a signalized crosswalk. It increases the distance bike-peds will have to travel by approximately 1,050-feet (almost 1/3 of a mile) over a route that is not designed for the expected 2,500 to 7,500 users per day. This is a 160% increase in travel distance compared to the tunnel option!

PLEASE SHOW UP & just be there, wearing safety yellow. Certainly speak, if you care to, keeping it to 3 mins or less. If you care about this issue, please help turn the tide of "car-centric design" in NH DOT!
