Dermoscopy for absolute beginners is aimed at people who have either:
Never had a dermatoscope but are planning on getting one and want to know how to use it before they get one
Have a dermatoscope but don’t use it because they don’t know how
Have a dermatoscope in the practice but have not had much (or any) training
Have been using a dermatoscope a bit, and would like to feel more confident with the basics as a refresher
The course is delivered to a large group of people and offers plenty of opportunity for interaction. If you have a dermatoscope, please bring it with you (and camera if you use one) and the team will be able to help with any troubleshooting queries you may have. If you don’t have a dermatoscope, don’t worry, we have a few we can show you and you can try out. Two of our sponsoring companies will have exhibition stands with
several different types of dermatoscope for you to view with no obligation to purchase.
Please note that this course is NOT aiming to make you competent to diagnose early melanomas or difficult atypical naevi or anything too challenging. It is the real basics, including how to use a dermatoscope, keeping it clean, taking good pictures through it, and concentrating on being able to tell the difference between common benign lesions such as seborrhoeic keratoses, BCCs, and melanomas.
