NOTE: If you R.S.V.P. attending to the event - Please go to the ticket link to reserve your spot!Begin your roller derby journey on Monday, January 13th at the Homewood-Brushton Branch YMCA. Derby 101 starts at 7:30p and we ask you to join us at 7:15p for check-in. Derby 101 is a guided intro to the world of roller derby, where you'll learn the basics, meet the Steel City Roller Derby team, and learn how to join our Freshie program (kicking off on Monday, January 27th). No experience needed — just bring your curiosity, proof of Covid-19 vaccination, equipment (see below) and get ready to roll!
Equipment: We require a helmet, skates, mouth guard, knee pads, elbow pads, and wrist guards. Quad skates in a derby style are recommended. SCRD has a limited number of pads and helmets available for borrowing. Additionally, Wicked Skatewear will be partnering with us for the night! They will have loaner skates available and gear to purchase. Any follow up questions can be emailed to [email protected].
Covid-19 Policy: We do have a Covid-19 policy vaccination requirement and ask that you please have proof of vaccination available when you check in.
