DENVER METRO TENANTS UNION GENERAL MEETING & CITYWIDE CAMPAIGN LAUNCH

We are entering a critical year for our movement. Meet the moment. Attend our General Assembly on March 7 at 11:30 AM at 1373 N Grant St to kick off our first citywide organizing campaign to end corporate slums.

TWO ORGANIZING GOALS:

1. Denver tenants have few organizing protections and no affirmative organizing rights. Enforcement is anemic and legal resources are scarce. There is no formal recognition of tenant organizations, and landlords are not required to meet with us. Retaliation is not uncommon. Tenant unions must be recognized, our activities must be protected, and landlords must be required to meet with us in good faith.

2. While we live without heat, hot water, pest control, and basic repairs, corporate slumlords send the rent we pay elsewhere to investor dividends, mortgage and tax payments, and new acquisitions. Not only are city fines ineffective, many slumlords are granted rental licenses. When corporate slumlords fail to comply with the law and to meet their obligations to us, the rent we pay must go solely towards repairs and improvement where we live - not towards corporate greed.
