Calling all readers who like their heroes morally gray, their plots twisted, and their book boyfriends slightly (or extremely) unhinged.
This is a no-judgment, no-shame space to talk about the books we're all secretly (or not so secretly) obsessed with. We're taking over the basement at St. Mark's — private, cozy, and just the right amount of "underground speakeasy" for the genre we love. Come with hot takes, live-tweet-worthy quotes, and zero apologies.
All readers welcome — whether you've been in the dark romance trenches for years or you just finished your first spicy book and have questions. (Though fair warning: our crowd skews toward women who've read enough to know exactly what they like.)
📚 First Three Picks
1. Lights Out — Navessa Allen Our launch pick to be finished this week, and the timing could not be better — Netflix just greenlit the TV adaptation. Read it now so you can say "the book was better" with authority.
2. Haunting Adeline — H.D. Carlton The most talked-about dark romance on BookTok, period. If you've ever seen a video about the Cat and Mouse Duet, this is your chance to finally weigh in.
3. Butcher & Blackbird — Brynne Weaver Two serial killers. One extremely twisted love story. Not for the faint of heart — perfect for the rest of us.
🔁 After That, It's Your Pick
Starting with book four, we're handing over the reins. Members will take turns choosing our next read — so if you've got a book you've been dying to make everyone else read, your turn is coming.
🎬 Bonus: Watch Parties
Dark romance is having a moment on screen, and we're not sitting that out. Lights Out just got greenlit as a Netflix series and Butcher & Blackbird has a movie in the works — when adaptations like these actually drop, we'll host a watch party so we can collectively lose it over what they changed. Book club with a side of "they did WHAT to that scene."

- Cost: Free to attend — a suggested $5-10 donation is welcome to help cover the space, no one will check
- One ask: St. Mark's is generously letting us take over their basement for free, so grab a coffee or a pastry from them before you head down. Let's keep them happy to host us.
