Dennis Layne: Singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Barton County, Missouri. He found an old guitar in Grandpa's attic in 1963. Went to trade school by hanging out where music was being made. More than 60 years later, he’s still picking and singing.
Acoustic and electric guitar, B-bender style, bottleneck guitar, Dobro, steel guitar with and without pedals, tenor banjo, and mandolin.
Dennis was a member KFAL radio’s Rooster Creek Boys as singer and guitarist for 10 years. Sang and played mandolin with the Ironweed Bluegrass Band for 15 years. Steel guitar with The Cosmic Riders and The Twang City Smokers. Electric guitar with Rumrunners, Travis Feutz, JT and the Designated Drivers. Guitar and Dobro with Mick Byrd and the Backroad Band. Tenor banjo with The Diddy Wah Daddies. Duo projects with other midMissouri artists - Abigail Rose, Ben Green Acoustic Blues, Ty Toomsen, Lightning Thompson. Active in the midMo music scene.
He’s worked in many tavern bands, or as one-fool-on-a-stool with a guitar. It’s been a few years, but have your heard his solo album "Two Dollar Portrait" featuring original songs and instrumental tunes?
Dennis sings about life, love, and losing in an Ozark/Okie style. He loves to entertain with an instrument in his arms -- and he can usually find a tune that will make you want to laugh, cry, or dance.
