Keynote topic:
Faith and the American -cracy: A Reflection on American Democracy, Theocracy, and Autocracy
The United States of America has long been described as being founded on the principle of religious freedom. The colonials and revolutionaries of American history lived according to the idea that they were escaping the tyranny of an unjust ruler and communities of persecution. Religion has still influenced how we understand humanity, dominance, and freedom in terms of the language of life, liberty, and property. This evolved into the declaration that we are "One nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all" who met the qualifications for citizenship. This keynote address will reflect on our history as a nation and how influences of theocracy, autocracy, and democracy have shaped the United States as we know it today.
