Demo & Dine: A Tribute to Leah Chase

In this 1 1/2 hour class, you'll sample three of the dishes made famous by the Queen of Creole Cuisine, who maintained that "there is no greater calling than feeding people." Our instructors will not only show you how to make each dish, they will introduce you to some of the highlights of Ms. Chase's career as a chef and restaurateur.

For ages 18 and up.

ABOUT LEAH CHASE: Dooky Chase's is known for it's good food, African-American art collection, and the parade of famous people who come through the doors, including entertainers, politicians, Civil Rights Leaders and artists. Leah Chase won numerous awards for her Civil Rights work and her cooking. Her portrait hangs in the National Portrait Gallery and artifacts from her kitchen are on display at the National Museum of African-American History and Culture.

• Gumbo Z'Herbes, Leah Chase-style with Smoked Sausage, Ham, Brisket, Stew Meat & Hot Sausage
• Crabmeat & Shrimp Farci (Eggplant stuffed with Seasoned Shrimp & Crab)
• Butter Cake

Safety & Precautions

• We ask that you return a signed copy of the waiver for each attendee via email prior to class.
  
• Please wear a mask while in the Cooking Schools. Masks can be removed to enjoy samples provided or the food that you have prepared.
  
• Our Partners will maintain a 6-foot distance from attendees while in the Cooking Schools. We ask that you maintain a 6-foot distance from other attendees during the class.
  
• Classes are limited to a maximum of two hours. For that reason, we ask that all attendees arrive at least 5 minutes prior to the confirmed time of the class.
