Are you ready to take the Virtual Dementia Tour?Arden Courts ProMedica Memory Care is proud to be able to help you experience what it’s like to walk in the shoes of someone who is living with dementia.
Designed by a well-known geriatric specialist and founder of Second Wind Dreams®, P.K. Beville M.S., The Virtual Dementia Tour™ (VDT) simulates dementia to help participants identify with the symptoms of the disease.
After undergoing the VDT experience, health care professionals, family members and caregivers can expect to become more aware of the challenges that persons living with dementia encounter every day. The knowledge gained from participation in the tour has changed the way that many deliver dementia care and have made them more empathic and compassionate caregivers.
*What is involved with the VDT experience?
The time required for each participant may be tailored for your needs. During this time, there is a pre and post-test, and participants are asked to perform everyday tasks under conditions that simulate the effects of dementia. Tour administrators observe the subject’s performance and note the impact of the simulated dementia conditions.
