Dementia: Supporting Unmet Need

Everyone is completely unique; think of the various life paths, experiences, and even people we meet as we go through life. It all blends together to make us who we are. When it comes to supporting someone living with a diagnosis of a dementia, we have to put each individual into the heart of our care. By understanding what makes them tick and what experiences they have had in their life (both good and bad), can we then truely start to provide meaningful support.
This training is based on the biopsychosocial model of care to help increase knowledge, skills and confidence to support people living with a dementia. Promoting a person-centred approach by acknowledging and understanding the person at the heart of the condition will contribute to understanding the presentation of people living with dementia.

Teaching will cover:

• person centred care
• exploring physical and psychological needs of people living with dementia
• strategies to support in practice
• scenario based workshop
• latest research findings
