About this Event

St.Amant is pleased to have, Melanie Crabbe, an NTG-Canada Affiliated Provincial Trainer providing this training, which uses the NTG-Canadian Consortium Dementia modules.

This 9-part series covers health care advocacy, aging and how dementia affects adults with intellectual disabilities. It teaches how to make quality observations, recognize age-related changes, and understand the progression of dementia. It introduces the NTG-EDSD screening tool and emphasizes the role of caregiver input. The modules also address creating dementia-friendly environments, applying key concepts and understanding responsive behaviors to better support individuals through proactive, flexible approaches.

This module focuses on using helpful support strategies instead of expecting the person with dementia to change. It highlights five key concepts for providing good support and how to remain proactive, positive and flexible in our approach.

This is part eight of the 9-Part Dementia Care Series from the NTG Canadian Consortium.

  • There is no single sign-up for this 9-part series.
  • You need to register for each class on its own.
  • You must complete both modules 7 and 8 to be eligible to attend module 9.
