About this Event
St.Amant is pleased to have, Melanie Crabbe, an NTG-Canada Affiliated Provincial Trainer providing this training, which uses the NTG-Canadian Consortium Dementia modules.
This 9-part series covers health care advocacy, aging and how dementia affects adults with intellectual disabilities. It teaches how to make quality observations, recognize age-related changes, and understand the progression of dementia. It introduces the NTG-EDSD screening tool and emphasizes the role of caregiver input. The modules also address creating dementia-friendly environments, applying key concepts and understanding responsive behaviors to better support individuals through proactive, flexible approaches.
This module explains the basics of dementia, including what it is, how it differs from normal aging and common signs to watch for. It also gives a basic understanding of different types of dementia and how Alzheimer's disease develops and affects people.
This is part four of the 9-Part Dementia Care Series from the NTG Canadian Consortium.
- There is no single sign-up for this 9-part series.
- You need to register for each class on its own.
