About this Event

This course provides essential baseline knowledge and skills for all staff working in health and social care settings. Aligned with the SSSC Dementia Informed Promoting Excellence Framework, it combines structured learning with interactive discussion to support a clear and practical understanding of dementia and its impact on individuals and those around them.
Participants will explore key principles of dementia care, helping them deliver compassionate, person-centred support in their roles while building confidence in everyday practice.
COURSE CONTENT:

Recognising signs and symptoms
Understanding the dementia journey
Exploring dementia risk factors
Understanding the impact on communication
Promoting Rights, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
MEET THE TRAINER:
All courses are delivered by Natasha, a certified Dementia Awareness Trainer with a background in counselling. She brings both professional expertise and lived experience, creating an engaging and supportive learning environment.
Natasha’s journey began when her mother was diagnosed with dementia at the age of 56 in 2014. Since then, she has become a passionate advocate for improved awareness, care and support.
She is the lead campaigner for Anne’s Law, named in honour of her mother, and a key member of Care Home Relatives Scotland, working to improve care standards and uphold the rights of families.
