Dementia 101: Understanding The Basics
About this Event
When someone you love begins experiencing changes in memory, thinking, or behavior, it can be difficult to know what those changes mean—or what to do next.
In this introductory session of BCN Presents: Navigating Dementia, we’ll take the confusion out of some of the most common questions surrounding dementia. Participants will learn what dementia is and what it isn’t, how dementia differs from normal aging, common types of dementia, signs families may notice, and why symptoms can look different from person to person.
Most importantly, this class will help families begin to understand what may be happening to their loved one and how greater understanding can lead to better communication, more realistic expectations, and more compassionate care.
Whether you are caring for someone with dementia, concerned about a loved one, or simply want to learn more, this class provides a practical and reassuring place to begin.
Presented by Bluegrass Care Navigators (BCN) as part of the Navigating Dementia community education series.
