ABOUT DEM ROOTS | The center and founder of the group, singer/songwriter Louis Morales, didn’t want the name to be the identification of the band, but be more about the music and the experience. Dem first appeared in 2016 as Morales’ stage name when he was playing gigs in his hometown of Galveston, TX. As the world was locking down at the start of 2020, Dem’s Pat, Allison, Sel, and Louis joined forces with Austin musicians Dane Folton (bass, Lion Heights), Jeremy Carlson (keys, Lion Heights), and Mario Salazar (lead guitar) to Tall Sky Studios in Austin, where they recorded their first album. Citing it as being a positive but strange experience to record during shutdown, the band quickly realized that the overarching message of the music was about understanding yourself - a phrase that everyone can relate to.

ABOUT PAIGE LEWIS | A seasoned performer and a notoriously hard-working musician, this is a debut unlike most. And with the places her career has already taken her, Paige could tell you stories that just make for a good country song. Yet, until now, she’d never thought to write one. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Over the course of her career, Paige has shared the stage with talented artists such as K.T. Tunstall, Zach Brown Band, Katy Perry, P.O.D., Guster, Switchfoot, and many more. She was awarded an ASCAP songwriting award for her cowrite of “I’m All Yours”, a CCM radio chart topper performed by Rachael Lampa. She has been featured in an Uber commercial, seen on the pages of Fast Company magazine, and has appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live as a background singer for Jose Gonzales. If Paige Lewis has learned anything over the course of her career, it’s that it’s not always the fastest way home that’s best. The twists and the turns are where the journey gets interesting, and sometimes you gotta take the scenic route to get you back where you belong. And now that she’s here, home’s right where Paige aims to stay.

ABOUT GALVESTON HISTORICAL FOUNDATION | GHF was formed as the Galveston Historical Society in 1871 and merged with a new organization formed in 1954 as a non-profit entity devoted to historic preservation and history in Galveston County. Over the last sixty years, GHF has expanded its mission to encompass community redevelopment, historic preservation advocacy, maritime preservation, coastal resiliency and stewardship of historic properties. GHF embraces a broader vision of history and architecture that encompasses advancements in environmental and natural sciences and their intersection with historic buildings and coastal life and conceives of history as an engaging story of individual lives and experiences on Galveston Island from the 19th century to the present day. MUSIC FRIENDLY GALVESTON | The Texas Music Office (TMO) designated Galveston as a Music Friendly Texas Certified Community on February 26, 2024. The Music Friendly Texas program aims to create jobs and economic development in Texas communities by supporting the music industry. Galveston’s certification recognizes its rich musical heritage and the city’s connection to the arts. Learn more here.
