DELTA SLEEP (UK)
The thing that humanity clings to is hope. In the darkness, light will prevail. In uncertain times, prosperity will ultimately endure: without it, there is simply nothing. On ‘Blue Garden’, Delta Sleep’s 4th studio album, out 27th September on Sofa Boy Records & Wax Bodega (US), the band find themselves digging beneath the overwhelming darkness of the world to find just a glimmer of light — tying in similar themes across their expansive back catalogue to become what is perhaps their heaviest record to date.
‘Blue Garden’ was recorded at the tail end of 2023 at Daft Studios in Belgium with Mark Roberts (Black Peaks, Toska, The Physics House Band) after a year of huge tours across America, Asia and Australia. Where previous albums came together quickly, with all four members entering the studio armed with songs demoed, tracked and recorded live, this time the band started with a completely blank page.
REAL TERMS (UK)
Formed in 2017 following the dissolution of their previous incarnation, Liverpool experimental alt-pop trio REAL TERMS’ intention from the get-go was to take the intricate, staccato, highly-rhythmic best of their old sound as Vasco Da Gama and transcend what they saw as the limitations of the math-rock genre, injecting their material with a dose of pop songwriting structure and melody.
SIX HANDS (BE)
The band plays a musical hopscotch with a strong penchant for musical triangle geometry. Guitar, drums and bass explore the full space the song allows, but fit together like an architectural structure. The whole thing sounds sometimes playfully upbeat, sometimes abrasively angry, but always danceable.
After their first full-length JXTA, the band toured the low countries with passages at Rock Herk, Pukkelpop, Absolutely Free Festival, We Are Open (Trix) and three UK tours. Afterwards followed a split 10” vinyl ‘Bromance’ together with their overseas pals a-tota-so (UK) and a club tour along Trix, Botanique, Trefpunt, Charlatan, Café Café, Muziekgieterij, ... among others.
