About this Event
Hackney Council hosts its first ever Nature Recovery conference in partnership with ReNature and the Wildlife Gardeners of Haggerston.
The biodiversity crisis is very real, but Nature can recover. Delivering simple, cheap habitat interventions makes a big difference. Want more small mammals, pollinators and birds in your greenspaces? Come and see how we have renatured Hackney Marshes with ponds, copses, log refugia, pollinator gardens and river deflectors. We have more wood mice, hedgehogs, weasels, newts, hobbys, whitethroats and invertebrates thanks to a coordinated, landscape approach to nature recovery that focuses on basic habitat creation/restoration to build the food chain from below. It works and you can do the same. No headlines, big budgets or beavers. Just thoughtful habitat creation led by local ecologists who know and care about wildlife.
This conference is aimed at Biodiversity Officers and Ecology professionals, and will give you a chance to learn about how simple but innovative ecological interventions have been implemented in Hackney and further afield.
The day will consist of a number of talks from ecological experts such as Russell Miller, John Little and others, site visits to see our biodiversity interventions, (for example: The North Marsh Habitats Project) and opportunities to network with colleagues.
Lunch will be provided.
