Join us each month for DelArt Nights, where art, community, and creativity come alive in fresh and exciting ways. Taking place on select Thursday evenings, October to April, each event features music and an immersive arts and culture experience—from engaging gallery experiences and performances to hands-on arts and crafts. Guests can enjoy a festive atmosphere with plenty of opportunities for socializing, along with a full bar and delicious food available for purchase. Every DelArt Night is unique, with free general admission and ever-changing cultural elements. No two nights are the same.For the month of February, we are celebrating University Night and Imprinted!
Join Imprinted: Illustrating Race featured illustrator Rudy Gutierrez for a talk on his vibrant and uplifting compositions. Gutierrez will be joined by his wife, renowned vocalist and songwriter DK Dyson, for a presentation filled with art, vocals, and instrumentation. In addition to the presentation, throughout the night enjoy live music from jam-hop band, Branch Station. Separate registration required for the illustrator presentation.

About Rudy Gutierrez
Rudy Gutierrez is an award-winning American illustrator and educator born in the Bronx, NY, of Puerto Rican heritage. He has created artworks for films and performances, U.S. Postage stamps, book covers, posters, picture books, and LP / CD covers and exhibited internationally. His artwork for Santana’s hit album “Shaman” was used as a set design at the 2002 Super Bowl half-time show, and his paintings were commissioned for the film “Chasing Trane: The John Coltrane Documentary.”
His awards include the Dean Cornwell Recognition Award, Distinguished Educator in the Arts Award and a Gold medal from the Society of Illustrators, as well as a Caldecott Honor Award, Africana Book Award and Pura Belpre Award for his Children’s books. In October 2025 Rudy was inducted into the prestigious Society of Illustrators Hall of Fame! He is a Professor Emeritus at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY and has lectured at various institutions internationally.
His paintings were featured as the Curatorial Spotlight at the Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum in Mesa Arizona in 2019 and in exhibitions at the Norman Rockwell Museum as part of the Unity Project Exhibition- 2020 (initiative of the Museum dedicated to an inclusive America) and “Imprinted- Illustrating Race- (2022 and 2025 at the Delaware Art Museum and will be on exhibit at the National Civil rights Museum in Memphis, TN in 2026. “Imprinted” explores how the printed image has both challenged and reinforced cultural stereotypes in the United States).
His art is in many public and private collections and is included in those of musical icons Carlos Santana, Clive Davis, and Wayne Shorter.
About DK Dyson
DK Dyson is a Vocalist, Songwriter, Musician, Griot and Educator whose recordings and live performances have been seen and heard worldwide and are documented by recordings and performances with Living Colour, Don Byron, Steve Coleman, Caetano Veloso, James Brown, Ornette Coleman, and the Jazz Passengers (performing with Mavis Staples, Jeff Buckley and Debbie Harry).
Her own bands, Eye & I and Brooklyn Blessings garnered her much media praise and she was nominated for a NY Music Award for best new Vocalist! She has composed and performed the television theme songs for the nationally syndicated shows “Our World” and “Black Business Report.” Her voice has been heard on various jingles including Budweiser, Finesse, and Coca-Cola. She is also a trauma informed yoga teacher and new author of the picture book “Window Fishing.”
As an Educator she is a faculty member of the School for Improvisational Music and has lectured and taught nationally and abroad.
